Spofford Pond School uses a suite of Foundational Apps on its iPads.  These are not “canned” or “rote-learning” apps.  The key to Foundational Apps is that they can be used across all grade levels and curriculum areas, as they are not content specific apps, but instead, apps that encourage productivity and creativity by the user.  In addition, these apps require the use of 21st century skills like creativity, communication, collaboration and critical thinking.

Book Creator by Red Jumper Studio

The Book Creator app allows the user to create a book right on the iPad.  eBooks can have text, illustrations, pictures, video and sound.  They can be "read" in iBooks or smashed with iMovie.  The possibilities are endless!  Visit the Book Creator website here.



Drawing Pad by Murtha Design, Inc.

Drawing Pad is a mobile art studio.  Create your own art using photo-realistic crayons, markers, paint brushes, colored pencils, stickers, roller pens and more!  This app can be smashed with almost any app to add the creator's personal touch!  The possibilities are only limited by the user's imagination.  Visit the Drawing Pad website here.




Explain Everything by Explain Everything sp. z o.o

Explain Everything is an easy-to-use design, screencasting, and interactive whiteboard tool that lets you annotate, animate, narrate, import, and export almost anything to and from almost anywhere. Green Screen by Do Ink

Green Screen by Do Ink makes it easy to create incredible green screen videos and images right on your iPad. iMovie by Apple

Chatterpix by Duck Duck Moose

Chatterpix allows the user to give their photos, drawings and pictures a voice.  It's simple!  Draw a mouth and record your dialogue.  Even the youngest user will find Chatterpix a great creative outlet.  App smash your recording and turn it into an informative iMovie.  The possibilities are endless.  Visit the Chatterpix website here.



Each year Spofford Pond school participates in Hour of Code (click here to visit website).  It's a great way to introduce both children and adults to coding.  Almost always, Hour of Code generates a renewed enthusiasm about computer science.
